Traveling from Canada for Parathyroid Surgery

The Southwest Parathyroid Center makes it easy for Canadians to get a second opinion consultation with Dr. Boone, schedule an operation, and plan a trip, all on your timeline. We have treated many Canadian patients and we are happy to help with the process. You don’t need to wait for an operation – you can get treated in the next few weeks.

How it works

  1. Fill out our New Patient Intake Form, available here: New Patient Intake Form If you have your records, you can upload them to the online form, or you can email them to contact@swparathyroid.com.
  2. Schedule a call with Dr. Deva Boone.
  3. Book a surgery date and plan your trip

The Cost

The total cost for the consultation and operation is $9,700. This includes everything except your flight and hotel room. It includes the surgery center facility fee, surgeon fee, anesthesia fee, and pathologist fee.

Note: The fee for the sestamibi scan is not included in the above, because most people will not get the scan done with us. We will want you to get this scan done prior to your operation, but you can do it close to home. You can get it done in your home town and then come to Arizona for the operation – even if the scan is negative.

The Trip

Flying into Phoenix

When coming for surgery, plan on flying into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. You will need to spend two nights in the Phoenix area: the night before surgery and the night of surgery. You can fly home the day after your operation.

Dr. Boone operates at Banner Surgery Center - University, located at 1111 E McDowell Rd, Suite B, Phoenix, AZ 85006. Everyone at this center is committed to providing an outstanding experience, which you will see when you come! You will be checking in to the surgery center an hour before your operation's scheduled time. After checking in, Dr. Boone will speak with you, answer any last-minute questions, and go over all of the postoperative instructions. You will meet the anesthesiologist and the OR nurses as well.

Your operation will last about half an hour, and you will wake up in the recovery room. Before you leave, Dr. Boone will speak with you and review what was found - and of course provide a picture of your parathyroid tumor(s)! Most people are able to go back to their hotel room about an hour and a half after the operation. That evening, Dr. Boone will call you to check in and make sure all of your questions were answered. You will have her cell phone number and email, so you will always be able to reach her with any issues or questions.
